Susana Alexander (1759-1856) was a resident of Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. During the American Revolution, she saved Captain Joseph Graham, who had been grievously wounded when Patriot forces retreated from Charlotte. After finding him, she brought the wounded man to her mother's house where they tended to his injuries. Once he was well enough to move, Susana then helped lead him through the woods north towards Patriot lines so that he could escape to safety.

For more information on Susana Alexander, see her full biography or the Nurses section of the Revolutionary War Widows of NC exhibit.
