Rachel Locus (née Pettiford) | MosaicNC

Rachel Pettiford Locus (c1752-c1852) was a resident of Granville County, North Carolina. A free woman of color, Rachel Locus supported her family through the hardships of the American Revolution and later faced unique challenges in applying for a widow's pension because of her identity.
