John Lovick was a resident of Chowan Precinct, North Carolina who arrived in the colony in 1713 as Governor Edward Hyde's valet. Lovick became a prominent politician in his own right, becoming a member of the North Carolina Council in about 1720. He also served as the colony's secretary in 1719, from 1721 to 1723, and in 1729. Lovick served again on the council beginning in 1732 under Governor George Burrington. He died in Chowan Precinct on November 2, 1733.
