Biographical Description

George Hammond was born in Richmond County, Virginia on February 25, 1750. A resident of Anson County, he served as a private in the Anson County Regiment of the North Carolina Militia in 1780. He later made a sworn affidavit in support of Huldah Hill's widow's pension application stating that he had served under Captain John Hill during the war. He died in Anson County in about July 1840.
