Wadesboro October 26th. 1838.
Yours of the 15th. ult. is at hand respecting the Case of Mrs. Huldah Hill you cite me to yours of the 23 June & 22 Augst. last also there being 3 persons in the Regiment bearing the name of John Hill renders it necessary that some evidince more to identify the Claimants late husband should be adduced I agree it is necessary could it be done, I have Conversed with the Widow again She states that She has produced what Proof She Could & States her Claim to be Just as for family register where there is none there can none be produced the Statement in the Declaration of this widow appears to be Just the Positive proof of her Marriage & her husbands service after Marriage by J. Duncan & Mr. G Hammon & the belief of James Gordon the Magistrate appears to be ample proof where there is no further Case be had the proofs of this widow are before you the Service of the 3 John Hills are also you must view the cases and decide as you may think Just from the Statements of the widow Certificate & the Statements of those here Named decide the Case
Yours with respect,
