Biographical Description
John Lyon Holmes was born in Wilmington (New Hanover County), North Carolina, on November 2, 1827. Holmes was an influential attorney who served as solicitor for New Hanover County and as president of the Bank of Cape Fear. He died in Saluda (Polk County), North Carolina, on September 18, 1888.
