Juliana Hudson was born in Massachusetts in about 1660. Later a resident of Perquimans Precinct, North Carolina, she married John Taylor in about 1684. After Taylor died in 1695, she married Benjamin Laker, a member of the North Carolina Council who died in 1701. Early court records for the area demonstrate that Juliana was active and independent, appearing as a litigant in several cases between 1691 and 1714. In 1705 she was accused of murdering her indentured servant Sanders, an American Indian. She died in Perquimans in about January 1738.
