Feeling perfectly worn out, and for more like going to sleep then writing, but determined that I would write some to-night—well to go back, as soon as I can to the past—Thursday morning early Sallie and Mollie came and spent two hours, I guess, before they left Messrs Iredell, Tucker, and W. L. Saunders called—in the evening, Coz & Cousin John went down to see Aunt Haywood—and I thought a little ride would do me good—so just as I started saw Mollie, and asked her to join me, we took, a little ride, and I then went home, & spent half hour or so with her—after tea George & Dick Badger came out—Friday morning Mr W. L. Saunders & D. Hinton called, and before they left Mr Jimmie Wright and Fred Shepard—and just as they started Mrs Miller, & Clark, the first time the former, was ever in the house—just as they left Misses E. Freeman, A Laurence and Helen Manly and Mr Sid Smith called—Col & Dr Tucker soon after—After dinner Cousin Mary Haywood & Mary called—Funaby gave a party last night, I went, Mr W. L. Saunders accompanied me—to say I spent a pleasant evening would not be true, but I enjoyed it more than I expected—good many of the young gentlemen down from Chapel Hill. Came home a little after 12—Saturday, I feel like laying down my pen, when I think of it—But I forgot to say Nim spent the day with me Tuesday, she is such a fine girl, I wish I could see more of her—Thursday night I answered that letter, I could not write, for I felt as if all my ideas had left me, and I was so worn out—I sent it off Friday—but back to Saturday—in the morning—Mrs Lemay & Cousin called I was not dressed—then Octavia and Betsy Madam LeLoup, Madam Govey, and Miss Merritt, Mrs Williams, Mrs Hinton—Mr Nicholson & Mr Burns, Cousin Betsy John, Frances, & LucyCousin Margaret Henry, Cousin Martha Haywood & Mr James Taylor Counsins Margaret Little, Sallie & Delia—in the afternoon Messrs J Wright, & W. L. Saunders called—Sallie & Mollie, Miss Martha, & Sallie Mason—Mr Saunders, took my daguerreotype off to Chapel Hill with him, I don’t like it at all, and he shall give it to me, as soon as I see him, I had many reasons for not wishing him to take it off, Sallie & Mollie left about dusk, they invited us, down to eat strawberries—I had just made my toilet, and had to go down, and write invitations, as Mr Tucker had promised to come up & help us—when Mr Nicholson came I did not go to Judge Badgers—Mr M. was quite serious I thought—gave him my album to write in. I sent “Magazine” some cake—O! me it is so late and I am so sleepy!! Dear me! Sunday went to church in the morning, & slept all the evening—after Church Mr Tucker came home with Mother & took tea—Monday I was busy all the morning writing & fixing invitations—late in the evening, I walked down to Judge Badger, Mollie wrote up and invited me to stay with them while, Coz & Cousin John were with them, they left Monday morning & will return tomorrow—I spent the night had a nice time, it was past 2, if not three when we went to sleep—talking so much—I came home about 11 this morning—and took a nice nap this evening, we expected Uncle George up, to the Convention to-night but he did not come—I am so sorry for I love him very much, & would have been so glad to see him—I was invited to Cousin Tom Hoggs, to spend the evening, company invited to meet Coz & Cousin John, I did not go—I know I should have spent a dull evening—tomorrow I will be very busy all day as we are to give a large party at night, I do hope, I may spend a delightful evening, but fear very much, that I will not enjoy it—20 or 21 Chapel Hillians invited. Mr Engelhard has hurt his hand so badly, I don’t know whether he can come, but I hope he will be here—I declare I must go to bed, and with the hope that the next time I open you, it will be to fill your pages with the enjoyment &c that I have had—good night—O! So sleepy!!
