If you remember I came to you at the Battery Park Hotel in regard to a discharge for Edgar Mayo from the Calvery Troop B. He did as you directed us but they refuse to give him a discharge.

I implore of you Governor for God's sake and the sake of the family help him and his people by using your influence and [swing?] all in your power to get him a discharge. His sister needs his support his care and his protection. Their home and everything on earth they had washed away in the flood.

Their Mother is dead and their Father is very old they are [illegible]. The father is not able to support himself and his daughter.

Edgar can obtain a position that will enable him to comfortably support himself his father and sister he can get a discharge [illegible] your family in this position, and do everything for this poor brokenhearted family you can.

I am very much afraid his sister will suffer if the discharge is not obtained from lack of daily necessities and also by the evil tongues of some people who are always ready to talk about a young girl who is unprotected. Gov. Craig God will bless you in this world and in the world to come if you will only use your influence in this matter as soon as possible.

We have done everything we can now, and have only to look to God through you to do the rest.
