Daniel Fulford being Sworn on the holy Evangelis, deposeth and Saith that on Saterday the 16th instant he this deponant, was with Josiah Phillips Capt. of the tories, and part of his Company Consisting of ten white men and one negro then with him well armd. at one abel bradleys where they recd. Orders to Cross the river Some one way Some an other with orders to meet at the house of Mr Williamsons, where they accordingly met and was their Entertaind with Victuals, this deponant Saith that in Conversation that was passed between Phillips and williamson, that he herd Williamson, tell Phillips that if he did not way lay the Shirt men and Kill them, that they, the Shirt men would Kill him, this deponant further Saith that Phillips inform'd williamson that he was going up tulls Creek to recrute men which Williamson approved of accordingly went and Got five men to joyne him, & on Munday returnd to norfolk County, on tuseday the Said Phillips with him Company way laid Major thorogoods Company, at a place Cald pokety Cosway [fell] on his advanc Guard, Kild one man and wounded Several this deponant Saith that he lived on Williamsons land for some time past & from his Conversation he always took him to be an Enemy to the american Cause
