To His Excellency
Gov Locke Craig

Dear Sir

As one of the surviving heirs of Miss M. E. Mitchell resident in N.C. I write regarding the grave of our grandfather, Dr E. Mitchell.

As there are no more than 40 sq. ft. included in the deed made to Miss M. I am willing to sign a deed conveying my interest to the State of North Carolina on the same terms expressed in the enclosed letter of my sister Mrs. A. M. Coit of Statesville.

Having seen the recent monument 18 months before its destruction, with its gross defacement, I would very much like to have some guarantee or positive assurance that sec. 3622 of the Code will be strenuously enforced, in case another monument be erected.

Will you kindly furnish a copy of your proposed pamphlet on Dr M. to Mrs. Coit and myself, and also a copy of the law passed by Legislature [illegible] proposed park to me.

Very Respectfully Yours,
