Biographical Description
James Hampton McKenzie was born on June 3, 1860, in Rowan County, North Carolina. McKenzie was a legislator (1891 and 1893), sheriff of Rowan County (1909-1915), and United States Deputy Marshal (1915-1918). He died in Salisbury (Rowan County) on May 31, 1918.
