Adam Clapp was born in Guilford County, North Carolina in about 1788. A resident of Union County, Illinois, he married Elizabeth Murray in 1809 and they had at least four children. By 1830, his mother-in-law, Rosana Murray was living with them and continued to do so until her death. He died in Union County, Illinois sometime after 1860.
