Mary Edwards Taylor was born in Maryland in about 1750. In 1768 she married Christopher Taylor, who later served as a captain in the Washington County Regiment of the Tennessee Militia and led several expeditions against the American Indians in the Tennessee frontier. In 1777 or 1778 she witnessed the marriage between her brother John Edwards and Ruth Crabtree. She died in Washington County, Tennessee on March 29, 1837.
