Biographical Description
Margaret Green Cotten (née Whitaker) was born in 1791 in North Carolina. She married into the Cotten family, a family of wealthy planters who owned land in North Carolina and Florida. Widowed in 1837, by 1850 she resided in Raleigh with her daughter-in-law and her children. She died in 1855 in Tallahassee, Leon County, Florida.
