Dewitt Marvin Norwood was born In North Carolina on August 12, 1880. In his youth, Norwood resided in Chatham County, North Carolina, and attended Bingham School from 1897 to 1901. He later moved to Laurens, South Carolina, where he served as assistant postmaster and postmaster. He died in Laurens on July 28, 1952.
