William Thomas Lee was born in Waynesville (Haywood County), North Carolina, on June 14, 1858. Lee was a merchant in Waynesville who served in the state legislature (1895 & 1909) and as a member of the North Carolina Corporation Commission (1910-1933). He died in Waynesville on January 3, 1943.
