Biographical Description

George Montagu Dunk (1716-1771), 2nd Earl of Halifax, was a British nobleman and politician who served as president of the Board of Trade from 1748 to 1761. He helped found Halifax, Nova Scotia, and was instrumental in American colonial development. He often signed his correspondence as "Dunk Halifax."
