Biographical Description

Thomas Burke (c1744-1783) was a doctor, lawyer, and politician who resided in Orange County. He represented Orange in the North Carolina Provincial Congress then served in the Continental Congress in Philadelphia from 1777 to 1781. Between congressional sessions, he would return to his home near Hillsborough. Later in 1781 he became the Governor of North Carolina.
