Elizabeth Pugh was a Quaker born in Pennsylvania in about 1738. Later a resident of Guilford County, North Carolina, she married to John Fruit, a prominent Regulator leader, sometime before 1771. Both the Pugh and Fruit families were heavily involved in the Regulator Movement and as a result after the Battle of Alamance Elizabeth Fruit interceded on both her husband and her brother John Pugh's behalves for them to be granted pardons for their involvement in the unrest. Elizabeth Fruit died in Randolph County, North Carolina in about 1783.
