Richard Nixson was a resident of Beaufort Precinct, North Carolina in 1723. A planter, he had an established relationship with the local Tuscarora in the area, as demonstrated by the fact that several American Indian men paid Nixson a visit at his house in about March 1723. When one of Nixson's white neighbors became agitated and struck one of the Tuscarora men, Nixson made a deposition on behalf of the Tuscarora, testifying that he had seen the assault occur. Nixson moved to Onslow County, North Carolina by 1731, where he served as a justice of the peace. He died in about June 1746.
