Biographical Description
William Ptolemy Powell was a soldier in the Halifax County Regiment of the North Carolina Militia who served as a lieutenant from 1777 to 1779 and as a captain from 1779 to 1781. He was captured and imprisoned by the enemy following the Battle of Halifax in May 1781.
