Biographical Description
Maria Toole Haywood was born on February 24, 1815 in North Carolina. The daughter of a wealthy plantation owner and clerk of the state senate, she resided in Raleigh, where she ran in the same social circles as many members of the Cotten family. She died in Raleigh on December 26, 1906.
