Biographical Description
Richard Bennehan Haywood was born in Raleigh, Wake County, North Carolina on November 5, 1819. The son of a wealthy plantation owner and state senate clerk, Haywood became a medical doctor. In 1851 he married Julia Ogden Hicks, and the couple had ten children. He died in Raleigh, Wake County, North Carolina on January 2, 1889.
