Biographical Description
John Bryan Grimes was born on June 3, 1868, in Pitt County, North Carolina. Grimes is best known for his long tenure (1901 to 1923) as North Carolina Secretary of State. He was commonly known, and signed his name, as J. Bryan Grimes. He died in Raleigh on January 11, 1923.
