Neptune U. Buckner was born in Madison County, North Carolina, on May 8, 1872. Buckner was an advertising writer who served as secretary of the Asheville Chamber of Commerce from 1910 to 1922. He died in Tampa, Florida, on October 26, 1944. He most often signed his name as, and was likewise referred to as, "N. Buckner."
