Henry Warren Hood, Jr. was born on May 24, 1892, in Southport, North Carolina. Hood was the manager of a dry goods store in Southport, North Carolina, upon the outbreak of World War I. He later served as a member of the Brunswick County Board of Education, an inspector for the State Bureau of Weights and Measures, and the mayor of Southport (1951-1952). Hood died in Southport on December 29, 1952.
