Biographical Description

William Pitt (1708-1778), 1st Earl of Chatham, was a British statesman who served as prime minister from 1766 to 1768. From 1757 to 1761, Pitt served as Secretary of State for the Southern Department. He was instrumental in British military success during the Seven Years' War.
