THE NEGRO AGRICULTURAL AND TECHNICAL COLLEGE OF NORTH CAROLINA

RESOLUTIONS

WHEREAS, In the great world-struggle now centering in Europe not only are all nations and peoples involved, but we believe that civilization itself is at stake; and

WHEREAS, The United States of America can no longer be neutral but, for the protection of her own institutions, must take her place with those who are fighting in defense of humanity and civilization; and

WHEREAS, The Negro, being a part of the great body of American citizenship, is not willing to sit idly by and let others fight the battles of his country but is anxiuos to demonstrate his loyalty and his patriotism as he has shown them in every struggle in which the nation has engaged; therefore

BE IT RESOLVED: (1) That we, the teachers and students of the Agricultural and Technical College, Greensboro, N. C., do hereby pledge our unstinted loyalty to the President and the Government of the United States in this hour of national peril.

(2) That we make effort at once through the proper channels to secure the necessary equipment for military training in this institution.

(3) That we place ourselves on record as being nitterly opposed to any conspiracy which may arise or be said to arise against the government of the United States.

(4) That a copy of these resolutions be sent to the President Woodrow Wilson, to the Honorable Josephus Daniels---Secretary of the Navy, to His Excellency T. W. Bickett - Governor of North Carolina, to our representatives in Congress, to The Greensboro Daily News and to the Greensboro Daily Record.
