Be it known that on this 21st. day of November A.D 1851—personally appeared before me Wm. Davidson one of the Justices of the Peace in and for the County of Mecklenburg and State of North Carolina—Alexander McLure aged abou[t] eighty four years, and after being duly qualified according to law, states that he was very well acquainted with John Alexander, the husband of Susannah Alexander, that he knows from his own personal knowledge that John Alexander served a considerable time in the Revolutionary war he was always reputed to have been a brave soldier and a true patriot. He further states that Susannah Alexander is still alive, and that he has heard the substance of a declaration filed by the said Susannah in order to obtain a pension, which he believes to be true—That he knew no other John Alexander in Mecklenburg County, who served in the Revolutiona[ry] war—And that he is satisfied the comptrollers certificate must refer to the husband of Susannah Alexander—
