This day personally appeared before me the undersigned Justice of the Peace in and for the County and State aforesaid James A. Todd a resident of Mecklenburg County, who being duly qualified according to law, states that he is now about seventy years of age, that he knew John Alexander, that he is reputed to have been a soldier in the Revolutionary war—He further states that he is very well acquainted with Susannah Alexander who is now living—and supposed to be about ninety years old, He further states that he knew no other John Alexander to whom the comptrollers certificates could have been issued for Revolutionary services, but the said John Alexander, the husband of Susannah Alexander—

I William Davidson one of the Justices of the peace in & for the County of Mecklenburg & Sate aforesaid do hereby certify that James A. Todd, Martha Montgomery & Alexander McLure, who signed the foregoing Affidavits are aged respectable persons, and now live and have always lived in the Bounds of Sugar Creek Congregation & are Members of Sugar Creek Church in said County of Mecklenburg, And so likewise, has Susannah Alexander in whose behalf the Foregoing Affidavits were made.
Mrs. Susanah Alexander Relict of John Alexander, a soldier of the revolutionary war, is an aged respectable woman, much esteemed & venerated for her Revolutionary Services in attention to the Wounded & Sick that came within her Power. And I have no doubt from Tradition & other reliable information from persons now pensnd. her claim for any pension for the services of her Deceasd. Husband during the revolutionary war is well & justly founded.
Given under my hand this 21st. Day of November 1851
