We Henry Taylor & [intentionally blank] citizens of said County do certify that we are well acquainted with John Edwards of said County who made the foregoing declaration for a pension, that we believe him to be eighty three years of age and that he is reputed & believed in the Neighbourhood where he resides to have been a revolutionary soldier and that we concur in that opinion.

And the said Court do hereby certify & declare its opinion that after the investigation of the matter and after putting the interrogatories propounded by the War Department that the aforesaid John Edwards who is declarant in the foregoing declaration was a revolutionary soldier & served as he has stated, I also certify that it appears to me that Henry Taylor and [intentionally blank] who have signed the preceeding certificate are resident citizens of Washington County Tennessee & their statements entitled to full credit they being reputable citizens.

I James Anderson Clerk of the Circuit Court of Law & Equity for said County do certify that the foregoing contain the original proceedings in the matter of the application of John Edwards for a pension I also certify that Hezekiah Bayles Esqr. whose attestation is to the annexed deposition of Christopher Taylor & Samuel Greer Esq whose attestation is to that of William Edwards were at the time of their several attestations acting Justices of the peace for Washington County & their certificates entitled full faith & credit In testamony of which I have to this present set my hand & affixed my seal of office at Jonesborough this 9th day of September 1833
