On this 9th day of September 1843 Personally appeared before the Subscriber a Justice of the peace in and for said County Jacob Adams aged 84 years who being duly Sworn according to law, doth upon his oath make the following affidavit

This affiant testifies and says that he was well acquainted with John Davis decd. late of Johnston County who was a Soldier during the revolutionary war that he was married to Mourning Pilkinton in the month of March 1778 by Joseph Boon Esqr. and they lived together as man and wife upto the 9th day of November 1831 when John Davis died and Mourning has lived a widow ever Since

This affiant has a perfect recollection of the aforesaid John Davis and of his Service marriage and death as set forth by his widow.
