Nineteen sixteen.
Judge H. W. Whedbee,
Greenville, N.C.
My Judge Whedbee:
You speak of holding the court in June to try Black. It will be necessary to call a special term, and if agreeable to you I will call the term for the 15th of June, and appoint you to hold it. You can rest assured that the prisoner will be protected. The officer in charge of the military will be under your direction, and co-operate with the sheriff of Greene County. At the proper time I will make the statement that you suggest. I rely with absolute confidence on your good judgment and ability to manage this situation with the force that will be furnished you.
With the highest regards,
Yours sincerely,
