Hon. Locke Craig,
Governor of North Carolina,
Raleigh, N.C.
My dear Governor:-
Since the receipt of yours of the 20th inst, in re the trial of Black for rape in Greene County, I have been confined to my bed and room hence the delay in answering and saying to you that in my opinion, there will be no need of an extra term of Greene Court on June 15th (I presume you mean June 12th) to try this case, as a regular term convenes on June 26th, in Greene County over which Judge Devin presides. Judge Devin is in every way capable of handling the situation and will do so, I have no doubt - I do not understand that the people of Greene want any Special Term.
Yours very truly
