BIBLICAL RECORDER
RALEIGH, N.C., April 22, 1915.
Hon. Locke Craig,
Raleigh, N.C.
My dear Governor:
As you know, I have been a summer resident of Buncombe County -- my lot at Ridgecrest touching the McDowell line -- for a half dozen summers past, and I am greatly interested not only in the development of the Baptist Assembly there, but also in the upbuilding of our mountain region and the entire Commonwealth. I, therefore, feel a special interest in the speedy completion of the Central Highway from Old Fort to the top of the Blue Ridge. I regret that there has been any hitch whatever in the finishing up of this very important piece of roadway. I do not know just what can be done, but I trust something can be done that will insure the early completion of this link in the Highway. If there is anything that you, or the road authorities, or the Directors of the State's Prison, or any one else in authority can do to this end, I am sure that it will be greatly appreciated by an interested and approving public. If it is possible for this stretch of the Highway to be completed this summer, it would fulfil the hopes and the expectations not only of many North Carolina people interested in the development of our mountain region, but also of a great many tourists who come from other States and sections to our incomparable Land of the Sky.
With best wishes, I am
Sincerely,
