I beg to advose you that Fred Bradley, Mr. Rhodes, (Government Engineer), and myself will be in Raleigh Monday, the twelfth and would like to confer with you and appear before the Council of State in regard to securing convicts to finish the road from Old Henry to Ridgecrest. We will also remain in Raleigh over Tuesday to go before the Board of Directors of the State's Prison, if necessary.

We have definitely decided to build the road by way of Round Knob and want to get the convicts to work on the road as soon as possible. We would like to have as many as fifty or sixty, if we can possibly get them and would appreciate anything you can do towards helping us to get them.
