Daniel Garret came before us Justices assigned to keep the Peace for this County & being duly sworn on the Holy Evangelist of Almighty God Deposeth & Saith, that being at his Fathers house about a forthnight agoe John Garret Came there & called him out of his Fathers Wheatfield & asked this deponent if he would take ^keep^ a Secret Oath which he agreed to do, Garret then gave him a Stick which this Deponent was to carry to Legate, this Deponent then went to Thomas Harrison's where he found Daniel Legate who asked him what he brought the Stick for he told him a Sign, Legate asked what sign he told him the Word INRI. Legate then Swore him to the Constitution, Legate then told this Deponent that there must be a Barrel Gun Powder got & divided amongst them in half pounds amongst the People, this Oath Deponent further saith that at the time Legate swore him, that John Garret (son of Thomas) Steven Garret, Thomas Garret & Charles Rhodes swore at same time & further this deponent saith not
