STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA
GOVERNOR'S OFFICE
RALEIGH

Hon. H. G. Connor,
Wilson, N. C.

My dear Judge:-

I am in receipt of your letter in regard to Henry M. London and will give to what you say about him very careful consideration.

I am much gratified that my pardon of Wilcox meets with your approval. There never was a doubt in my mind about the sufficiency of the evidence to go to the jury, but in view of the facts and the extraordinarily fine prison record of Wilcox, I felt constrained to exercise my statutory power in his behalf.

I note with much interest what you say about the negro problem. It certainly does bulk large on the horizon at this time. It is going to be troublesome, but I have faith that our people will find a way to solve it with wisdom and with justice.

Wishing you a most happy New Year,

Sincerely yours,

T. W. Bickett
Governor
