Be it known that before me James Gordon one of the Judges of the Court of Pleas & quarter Sessions of the above County appeared Elizabeth Bartley widow, states she was ^born^ the 25th day of July 1771, And after being duly sworn according to Law doth on her oath make the following statement that she is the sister of Huldah Hill widow of John Hill decd, she states that her Parrents was opposed to the Marriage of her sister to John Hill a short acquaintence & she supposes other reasons is not recollected & in the absince of her Father as she understood in the service of his Country & without the knowledge of her Mother or family her sister Huldah went from home & she suppose was Married which was in the forepart of the year before Gates defeat at Camden after that Circumstance my Fathers family was carried to Hillsboro for safety John Hill carried sister Huldah were he was raised with his relations as I suppose how long the stay of all before the return or how long after before the draft for the service I have no recollection on of dates my brother Jonathan Jackson was Captain as understood my brother Isaac Jackson & John Hill as she supposes was Privates & after being gone sometime ^the^ three men returned & stated they were all wounded & that they recived their wounds in a fight at a Place called Bettys Bridge the above circustances is well recollected but dates is not recollected
