Dr. John McCampbell, Sup't,
State's Hospital,
Morganton, N.C.

My dear Dr. McCampbell:-

Mr. John P. Stedman of Oxford, North Carolina, desires admission into the western hospital. He does not desire, and his friends do not desire him to go into the eastern hospital at Raleigh for the reason that he was pharmacist at the penitentiary for three or four years, and the proximity of that institution to the hospital would continually bring before him scenes and people with whom he was familiar while in Raleigh. He and his friends think that it would be much more beneficial for him to go to Morganton.

Mr. Stedman is a nephew of Major Charles M. Stedman. He and all of his family are among the very best and most deserving people of North Carolina, and if you could make arrangements to admit him into the State's Hospital at Morganton, I would be very much gratified, and his many friends would greatly appreciate it.

With the highest regards,

Your friend,
