Ann Walker was made haversacks for the North Carolina militia prior to the Battle of Alamance. Every man who enlisted in the militia was given a haversack as part of their payment. On 21 April 1771 a relative of Ann Walker, Capitan of the artillery James Walker, received a payment for the haversacks on her behalf.
