Biographical Description

Mary Conway was a resident of New Bern, North Carolina. Her husband Peter Conway was the clerk of the local court in the 1750s and she was widowed when he died in about 1767. A wealthy woman with lodging downtown, Conway provided space for the North Carolina Colonial Council to meet in New Bern. During the War of Regulation Mary Conway provided housing for the use of the Craven County Regiment of the North Carolina Militia. She died in Craven in August 1774.
