Mary Creecy was born in Chowan County in about 1760. In 1774 she and her mother signed a nonimportation agreement that later became known as the Edenton Tea Party Resolves, making her one of the youngest women to do so. Later in 1780 she married John Skinner and the couple had one child together before her death on 5 January 1782.
