Richard Booth was born in about 1643 and arrived in Virginia by 1661. There he lived in the vicinity of the Blackwater River near the contested Virginia-North Carolina border and had occasional interactions with the Weyanoke, Nottoway, and Meherrin American Indians. In 1707 he gave a deposition in support of North Carolina's boundary claim with Virginia. He died sometime after March 1714.
