Biographical Description

George Edwin Biddix was born on May 19, 1882, in McDowell County, North Carolina. From 1912 to 1922, Biddix was an employee, and later foreman, at the Tallassee Power Company plant at Badin, North Carolina. During an investigation launched by the governor's office in 1919, it was alleged that Biddix often physically beat the Black employees under his supervision. He was a member of the Albemarle police department from 1932 until his retirement due to medical issues in the fall of 1950. He died in Albemarle on January 26, 1951.
