Biographical Description

King Charles was a leader of the Mattamuskeet Indians and resided within the vicinity of present-day Beaufort County, North Carolina. In about 1704 a group of colonists from Bath County submitted a petition to their colonial government, complaining that the Mattamuskeet people were killing their livestock and threatening them. Any further information about this individual has not been located.
