Biographical Description

Edward Cockrill was a weaver who resided in Chowan Precinct, North Carolina. In 1722 he served on a jury that heard the trial of John Cope, an American Indian man who had been charged with burglary and trespassing. In March 1723 when he was charged with theft for stealing livestock, Cockrill fled the state, leaving his wife and children behind. Any further information about this individual has not been located.
