Biographical Description

James Martin Jones was born outside of Salisbury (Rowan County), North Carolina on August 26, 1833. Jones was a farmer and boarding house proprietor who served as superintendent of incarcerated laborers at work on the Spartanburg and Asheville Railroad beginning in 1877. He died in Asheville on July 26, 1886.
