Biographical Description

Richard Franklin Simpson was born in Laurens County, South Carolina on March 25, 1798. An attorney, he served as a representative in the U.S. Congress from 1843-1849. He later signed the Ordinance of Secession for South Carolina in 1860. He died in Pendleton, Anderson County, South Carolina on October 29, 1882.
